So this trip was from two months ago, but now seems an appropriate time to finally post some pictures...
My host father's new job is in Bern, Switzerland, so he is there by week and back in Dusseldorf by weekend. In mid October they had to move him into his new apartment and they asked if I could come along and help. I knew I'd have to be working, but I also knew that they could really use my help so I agreed. As I already discussed in my 'German doctor' post, all I ended up returning from this trip with was a sinus infection, a ton of stress, and a Swiss-made water canteen. But I still helped out a lot so they were really thankful that I went. And when is a friend more important than a) moving and b) when you need a ride to and/or from the airport? So to show that I was a good, reliable sport, I went.
One of the last days there we found a few hours to go into town, which was only a short 12 minutes tram ride away, and got to explore. By explore I mean that I got to be dragged along to a bunch of shops while having no Swiss money to spend and then having to go to a dinner at a place I didn't want to eat at. But 'explore' we did, and here are a few of the photos I took along the way:
Cobble-stoned streets.
so there were bears all over town.
That is some crazy fruit! I have no idea what any of that is. What did you end up eating at the restaurant?
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures. :)
Hey thanks! Glad you liked 'em! Yeah I only recognized a few, like some small pumpkins and some bright red peppers, the rest were mysteries...
ReplyDeleteI'm actually kind of glad we ate at the place we did because apparently it is something special to Switzerland or that region? My host father said something like that and pretty much it's a skillet and the base is this hash brown-type of potatoes and then you add stuff. I think I got the egg, cheese and ham? Something like that. Actually pretty good but WAY too much. Not just a lot of food, but the taste was overwhelming. I love eggs but after 1.5 I start to get queasy. I could only stomach about half of the meal :( I wish I could remember the name of it or took a picture.
