AuPairing in Deutschland

A way for friends to follow along with me not just in my trials and tribulations of being an AuPair but also through my accounts of traveling around Europe, the horrors and triumphs of my day-to-day happenings and learning how to cope with, and even enjoy, living in a new, foreign country.

Monschau, Germany

I'm working on finally catching myself up since I've fallen terribly behind in my blogging, so here is a place I visited about a month ago. One of my local friends (I have very few) took me to a place right by the Belgium border called 'Monschau.' It's this cool town nestled in a valley with an old castle in ruins that sits atop the hill overlooking it all. It was a very Fall day, thus it was rainy, and had been rainy for awhile, so the river that runs through this little town was just roaring. It was pretty cool. The streets were small and winding and the inhabitants were as old as the buildings themselves. My friend joked that we were by far the youngest people there, and we mostly were, so we brought down the age-average as best we could. Well anyway, here's Monschau!

The Roaring River we discussed earlier.

And the little, winding streets.

We stopped here to get HUGE pancake type things.
I think I got the ham, cheese and onion one. Delicious.

From the castle looking down on the town.

Pretty basic castle. This was right outside of it.

And this was from the bottom!
